LAKELAND -- Ms. Marquita "Nikki" Nicole
Williams of Lakeland, a theater student at Florida
Southern College who approached life with exuberance and
caring for others, died of cancer Monday (May 3, 2004) at
Orlando Regional Medical Center. She was 20.
Ms. Williams was entering her senior year at Florida
Southern and her goal was to one day act in movies, her
father, Dr. Alonzo Williams Jr., said.
She loved her studies, her father said. Besides majoring
in theater, she planned to minor in foreign language with
a focus on Spanish.
Her father recalled how he taught her to play the piano
and he said she had a beautiful singing voice.
She was a member of the Florida Southern Gospel Choir,
the Florida Southern Theater Department and the Abundant
Life Church of God in Lakeland.
Her motto was "Live life to the fullest," her
