Stacy McKinney, 59
Car Wash Attendant
LAKELAND -- Mr. Stacy Hakeem McKinney, a self-employed
car wash attendant known as the "Car Wash Man,"
died of heart failure Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at Lakeland
Regional Medical Center. He was 59years of age.
Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, he came to Lakeland from
there in 1980.
"He used to have a lot of hobbies," said a
friend of the family, Joyce McAllister of Lakeland.
"He liked to go bike riding or to the beach, playing
with his 5-year-old daughter. Most of the time he took
her around and did a lot of stuff with her -- like go to
the park, and do a little here and a little there."
He attended Word Alive Ministry.
Mr. McKinney is survived by his wife of nine years, Sonia
McKinney; daughters, Melissa McKinney, Lakeland, Angie
McKinney, St. Louis; sisters, Esther Howard, South Bend,
Ind., Glendora Gates, Shirley Parker, Detroit, Lois
Rogers, St. Louis; brothers, James Gilmore, Sam McKinney,
both of Lakeland, James McKinney, South Bend, Carl
McKinney Jr., Milford McKinney, Leroy McKinney, Lewis
McKinney; two grandchildren.
