LAKELAND -- Mr. Charles Earl "Sonny" McClain of Lakeland died of heart failure Sunday (Aug. 1, 2004) in Lakeland. He was 58.

Born in Indianola, Miss., he came to Lakeland from Dade City 30 years ago. He was a self-employed handyman.

Mr. McClain is survived by his wife, Maebelle McClain; sons, Gregory Harrison, Charles McClain Jr., Tyrone Cooper, Rushawn Cooper, all of Lakeland; daughters, Beatrice K. McClain, Shawanda Cooper, both of Lakeland; mother, Beatrice McClain, Indianola; sisters, Deloris Dexter, New Orleans, Catherine Spurlock, Indianola, Sefronia McClain, Flint, Mich.; brother, William McClain, Indianola; 18 grandchildren.

Services were at New Birth Ministries.
