Citrus Worker
LAKELAND -- Mr. Samuel "Sammie" Roper of
Lakeland died of heart failure Saturday, July 12, 2003 at
Grace Healthcare of Lakeland. He was 77 years of age.
Born in Bruton, Alabama, he came to Lakeland in 1950. He
was a citrus worker and a former employee at Ewell
Construction. He was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church
of Bruton.
Mr. Roper is survived by his wife, Cora Lee Roper;
brother, John Roper of Loughman, Florida; sisters,
Mildred Lewis of Pensacola, Florida, Viola Armstrong of
Memphis, Tennessee, and Alice Porter of Lakeland.
Services: Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. from the
funeral home chapel.
