LAKELAND -- Mr. Rufus Rountree of Lakeland died of cancer
Thursday (June 5, 2003) at Tandem Healthcare, Lakeland.
He was 68.
Born in Millin, Ga., he came here from Millin in 1940. He
was a mechanic supervisor for Kraft Foods. He was a
member of New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Rountree is survived by his wife, Willie Mae
Rountree; daughters, Debbie Gatlin, Joyce Ragins, Karen
Childs, Betty Ward, Sylvia Gibson, Lakeland, Sandra
Brown, Rochester, N.Y.; sons, James Rountree, Leonard
Leon Rountree, John Graham, Tampa; brothers, Clinton
Rountree, Lakeland, Lee James Rountree, San Bernadino,
Calif.; sisters, Trudy Baker, Lakeland, Jeraldine Hinton,
Lakeland, Addie Ruth Dunn, Newark, N.J., Betty Foster,
Lakeland, Bernice Rountree, Lakeland; 32 grandchildren;
and 26 great-grandchildren.
Services: Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at 11:00 from New
Mount Zion M.B. Church.
